Salerno, just 8 km from Cava de' Tirreni, is a modern and dynamic city. The entire historic center has been gradually recovered and is now the fulcrum of the bustling life of the city thanks to the characteristic shops and clubs that animate it until late at night.
You can't miss a walk on its promenade, a large tree-lined garden and a stop in full sun on the steps of the Santa Teresa beach.

The historic center consists largely of ancient buildings, reworked and enlarged over the centuries, of the Lombard and Norman cities.
Everything is traceable in the characteristic and typical maze of alleys, in churches, in noble palaces.
To see, in the historic center Palazzo Fruscione where periodically art exhibitions and cultural events are held, Palazzo Pinto with its beautiful inner courtyards and frescoed rooms.

You cannot miss an evening at the Giuseppe Verdi Municipal Theater, inaugurated in 1872 and restored in 1994. The theater was built to a design by the engineer Antonino D'Amora and the architect Giuseppe Menichini based on the proportions of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. Remarkable is the curtain made by Domenico Morelli and defined, at the time, "the most beautiful in Italy". Under the artistic direction of Daniel Oren, since 2007, he has established himself in the national opera scene as a theater of excellence, making himself the protagonist of flattering criticism and important events.

The symbol of the city is the Castle of Arechi, built in the late Roman or Byzantine period, which became the cornerstone of the triangular defensive system of the city with the Lombard prince Arechi II, from which it takes its name.
Another strong symbol of the city is the Carnale, a horse tower built in 1569. The Carnale also served as a lookout tower, in connection with the other lookout towers of the Amalfi and Cilento coast, against Saracen raids.

On the city territory there are some interesting archaeological sites. One of the most important, because it has its roots in the origins of the first settlements in the area, is the Etruscan-Samnite archaeological area of the Fratte district. The other very important archaeological site of the city, because it is multi-layered and closely connected to the period of greatest flowering of the city of Salerno, is the archaeological complex of San Pietro a Corte dating back to the first century AD

From November to January, the city flourishes even further with the enchanting show of Luci D'Artist.
