Thanks to the mild climate and the beauty of the landscape, Positano has been a resort since the Roman Empire, as evidenced by the discovery of a villa and further finds dating back to 2004.
Typical are the many staircases that from the height of the village reach down to the beach. In the west of Positano we find the smallest and quietest corner with the Fornillo Beach, which contrasts with the more popular Spiaggia Grande located to the east.
In the waters off the small village of Positano lies the famous archipelago of Li Galli; legend has it that the famous Sirens of Ulysses lived on these three small islands.
