Pompei

The archaeological excavations of Pompeii about 35 km from Vietri have returned the remains of the ancient city, buried under a blanket of ash and lapilli during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79, together with Ercolano, Stabiae and Oplonti.
 
Most of the recovered finds are now preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and in small quantities in the Antiquarium of Pompei.

We remember the Temple of Apollo,, the Temple of Isis, the Temple of Jupiter, the Temple of Venus, the Sanctuary of the Public Lares;
 
 
The Villas
Relatively few are the otium villas found, however, they are present near the city center, just outside or leaning against the ancient city walls, houses of this kind such as:
the Villa dei Misteri, the Villa di Diomede, the Villa Imperiale, the Villa of Giulia Felice.
 
 
Homes
Among the houses we remember that of the Menander, the House of Ottavio Quartione, which owes its name to the owner whose seal was found, the House of the Golden Cupids, the House of the Faun, the House of the Tragic Poet with the famous «CAVE CANEM ";
 
 
The Public Buildings
Among the public buildings where the Pompeian daily life took place and their political and commercial activities we mention:
the Forum, the Basilica, the Macellum, the Officina del Garum, the Castellum Aquae;
 
 
The Playful Buildings:
There were many entertainment activities of the Pompeians and among the playful buildings where gladiatorial shows took place in the amphitheater, cultural performances such as comedies, poems or music in theaters, baths, massages and gymnastics in thermal structures, fights and military training in gyms and entertainment sexual in lupanari.
 
As well as the Necropolises that as established by the Roman laws, the tombs had to be built outside the walls
towns and so, near the gates of Pompeii, there are several.
 
From March to October the excavations are open all round from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm in the winter months until 4:00 pm.
 
It is an experience not to be missed
