The Path of the Gods connects Agerola, a village on the hills of the Amalfi Coast, to Nocelle, a fraction of Positano perched on the slopes of Mount Pertuso. The name suffices to make sense of the spectacular nature of the path: follow it in the direction that goes from Agerola to Nocelle so as to walk slightly downhill and have a view of the Amalfi Coast and Capri in front.
Where to take the Path of the Gods The Path of the Gods begins in Bomerano, a hamlet of Agerola. To reach Agerola there are the Sita buses that depart from Amalfi, ask the driver to show you the Bomerano stop. From there follow the road signs that will take you to the beginning of the path. If you leave from Positano: bus to Amalfi + Amalfi-Agerola bus (2 hours) If you leave from Sorrento: bus to Amalfi via Positano + Amalfi-Agerola bus (3 hours) The trail ends in Nocelle, in the upper part of Positano. You can reach the center via a long staircase (1500 steps) and about 500 meters on foot. Alternatively, there is a bus service. From Positano there are buses and ferries to return to Sorrento and Amalfi.
The Path of the Gods can also be reached from Praiano but it is necessary to face a long staircase to pass from sea level to 580 meters high to reach the Colle Serra pass. Walking along the Path of the Gods The path is marked by signs in white and red with the inscription 02. From Colle Serra you take a first downhill section until you reach a fountain: on the left you will find the mule track that goes up from Praiano, while on the right you will continues through the Path of the Gods. Below you will notice the Convent of San Domenico, which instead is located on the road when climbing from Praiano.
The trail at this point becomes more tortuous, through climbs, descents and vertiginous panoramas passing the Vallone Grarelle up to the village of Nocelle, a fraction of Positano. In ancient times, Nocelle could only be reached on foot via a steep staircase that led up from Positano. Today you can decide whether to go down by bus or on foot for the 1500 steps that will take you to the town of Arienzo. If it is summer, it is worth taking another 300 steps to go down to Arienzo beach and take a refreshing swim. From Arienzo, following the SS 163 for about 1 km you will be in the center of Positano.
If, on the other hand, you prefer a more substantial meal, once you have passed the village of Nocelle, continue for about 1 kilometer along the recently constructed road, until you reach La Tagliata restaurant, where you can have lunch on a terrace overlooking the sea and Capri .
