The coastal village is famous for its beautiful scenery for a Roman maritime villa on two floors dating back to the first century AD, decorated with frescoes and mosaics.
This villa, belonging to some member of the senatorial or equestrian patriciate, was active throughout the Julio-Claudian age. Later it was gradually abandoned and, therefore, inexorably covered by piles of lava material erupted from Vesuvius and then precipitated downstream due to heavy torrential rains.

Today Minori is a popular tourist destination for pastry products, delights that attract many tourists each year in search of the flavors of the coast. For this reason it is known as Città del Gusto, while due to its mild and pleasant climate it is called Eden of the Amalfi Coast.
